Costs and credit rules
Free software does not include paid-model inference. Seats, inference and cloud compute are billed separately. Do not add inference already paid with credits again. BYOK provider invoices are separate from platform charges.
Monthly subscription base credits: $120
No plan-model credits on this tier; the shared Design Plan allowance is up to $120/month.
No standalone credit packs are published; auto-recharge tops up usage under a user-set monthly cap, and credits do not roll over or count as cash.
Design Plan credits are consumed first. On Plus/Pro/Max, further usage draws on plan-model credits. Go has no plan-model credits and waits for the window reset. Requests stop when credits run out unless auto-recharge is enabled.
- The software is Apache-2.0 open source; hosted-model and API usage draw on subscription credits, and the API shares the same allowance.
- Consumption order: shared Design Plan credits first; Plus/Pro/Max then draw on plan-model credits; Go has none.
- Windows apply only to Design Plan credits: Go has 5-hour and 7-day windows; Plus/Pro/Max only the 7-day window; both reset on a rolling basis from the subscription start.
- Plan-model credits are granted per billing cycle with no windows and no rollover; credits are usage allowances, not cash.
- Requests stop when credits run out unless auto-recharge (with a user-set monthly cap) is enabled. Upgrades are immediate and prorated; downgrades require support; cancellation is available anytime.
- BYOK is billed directly by the chosen provider and consumes no OpenDesign credits; a provider key needs a local agent to edit project files.
- The advertised maximum of $120/month equals the Design Plan allowance and does not promise fixed usage or request counts.
International product; mainland China access, sign-up and payment are unverified and no official CNY pricing exists; international prices are not converted to CNY.
BYOK and existing subscriptions
- Own provider API key: Supported on every plan, including Free; usage is billed by the chosen provider
- Compatibility unverified: Built-in BYOK adapter list (17 adapters incl. Kiro) not individually re-verified on 2026-10-16
Provider account, plan-specific keys, endpoints, models and usage restrictions still apply. API-key support does not make all subscriptions interchangeable. An invalid Gateway BYOK key does not fall back to a paid platform key. Official BYOK setup
